How do I spend my Sundays in Santa Cruz? I just play frisbee! I'm very happy I was welcomed by the group that play Ultimate Frisbee every Sunday in the DeLaVeage Park. This frisbee club is called the Danger Club. Frightning he?! Well, it's not close to frightning, every Sunday turns out to be great! We start around 10:00 am. People show up, start warming up by throwing the disc around a bit. And after a while we start the game. Is a great work out because there's a lot of running involved. So I really had to get used to that in the beginning, not to say the first few times I thought I'd die...

I like this game a lot. Because besides the physical exercise it involves lot of technic to throw the disc accurate asa well as tactics, you really need to know where to run to. And because there are very advances players around, I got the change to learn fast! It's wonderful.
Mostly we play until 1:00 pm. We chill out a bit, and then it's time for FLINCH. This is a very simple but very addictive game!!
The pitcher tosses the disc towards the people in the small box. And you're only allowed to move if you catch the disc.
So if you start moving, be sure you're fast and catch it because others will have the same intention! When you catch, you have a point. And at three points you'll become the pitcher.
But when you move and you don't catch, it's a flinch, and then you have to stand outside the large box.
So when you flinch, you're out! ... And if it makes you happy, you can stand outside the box in a clowns suit of course...
Sounds simple, but when we start doing it we won't stop for the first 2 hours! It's a crazy game. You just have to control your reflex to catch. And that causes hilarious actions and situations.
Last Sunday I went home around 3:00 pm. And since we didn't BBQ around noon this time, I was extremely hungry. But I only noticed when I biked back home.
One of the frisbee players is Joe. In the picture he's on my left. He invited me to join dinner in San Francisco. There was a group of 16 people. There were a few other frisbee players, and the rest are friends of each other. It felt really welcomed. People seem so open over here! So thanks again Joe!
We had a great dinner at a Indian restaurant. For me it was a great experience to see a bit of the city at night. The food was great. And as you can see we eat a lot!. Only the doesn't say what... Food T1, Food T1, Food T1... Perfect!
Home again after a 1,5 hours drive. 12:00 am. Off to bed...
And like all other days, that was such a perfect day again!
Check some more pics in the album!
